미국의 소설가, 에세이스트, 극작가, 시나리오작가이자 시인. Bradbury는 1938년 로스앤젤레스 고등학교를 졸업 후에는 정규 교육을 받지 못했고 밤에는 도서관에서 공부하고 낮에는 타이피스트로 일하면서 독학을 했다. 첫번째로 출간된 그의 소설은 "Hollerbochen's Dilemma'(1938)로 아마추어 팬진 Imagination!에 실렸다. 원고료를 받고 출판한 첫 소설은 "Pendulum" (1941)로 Super Science Stories에 실렸다. 1942년에 발표한 "The Lake"에서 그는 자신만의 스타일을 보여준다. The Martian Chronicles(1950)으로 그는 과학소설의 지도자급 작가로서 명성을 쌓는다. 다른 Bradbury 최고의 소설로는 Fahrenheit 451(1953)가 있다.(프랑스의 트뤼포 감독에 의해 영화화 되었다) 아직도 활발히 작품을 쓰고 강연을 하면서 캘리포니아에 살고 있다.
